FL Electrical Contractors

The State of Florida requires 14 hours of board-approved Continuing Education each biennium prior to the renewal period.

-Renewal for Electrical Contractors occurs August 31st of Every Even Year. (8/31/10)


The 14 hours of Continuing Education must include:

(1) hour of Workplace Safety
(1) hour of Business Practices
(1) hour of Workers' Compensation
(1) hour of Advanced 2007 Florida Building Code
(7) hours Board Approved Technical Subjects
(3) hours of General Credits which may be any classes approved by the board.


Contractors who are engaged in alarm system contracting must take a 2 hour false alarm prevention course as part of their continuing education. NOTE: We do not offer this 2 hour course.

FL Certified & Registered Contractors

The State of Florida requires 14 hours of board-approved Continuing Education each biennium prior to the renewal period.

-Renewal for Certified Contractors occurs August 31st of Every Even Year. (8/31/10)
-Renewal for Registered Contractors occurs August 31st of Every Odd Year. (8/31/11)


The 14 hours of Continuing Education must include:

(1) hour of Workplace Safety
(1) hour of Business Practices
(1) hour of Workers' Compensation
(1) hour of Advanced 2007 Florida Building Code
(1) hour of Laws and Rules Regulating the Construction Industry
(1) hour of Wind Mitigation Methodologies (General, Building, Residential, Roofing, Specialty Structure & Glazing)
(8) hours of General Credits which may be any classes approved by the board.

The State of Florida requires 8 hours of board-approved Continuing Education each biennium prior to the renewal period.

-Renewal for Engineers occurs February 28th of Every Odd Year. (2/28/11)


The 8 hours of Continuing Education must include:

(4) hours of Board Approved as Laws & Rules of Chapter 471 and 61G15 F.A.C.
(4) hours of Board Approved as Areas of Practice.

The State of Florida requires 20 hours of board-approved Continuing Education each biennium prior to the renewal period.

-Renewal for Architect and Interior Designers occurs February 28th of Every Odd Year. (2/28/11)


The 20 hours of Continuing Education must include:

(16) hours must be in technical and professional subjects related to safeguarding life, health, property and promoting the public welfare.
(2) hours of Advanced 2007 Florida Building Code
(2) hours of General Credits which may be any classes approved by the board.

The 14 hours of Continuing Education must include:

(2) hours must be in the area of accessibility
(2) hours must be in the area of Florida Laws & Rules
(1) hour in the area of Ethics
(9) hours of General Credits which may be any classes approved by the board.
